This group gathers every second Monday and fourth Thursday of the month to sing and share music in this unique folk tradition. The group is open to anyone who would like to join!

Shape-note singing is an American folk tradition of participatory singing originating in traveling singing schools in the early 19th century. Singers divide into four parts, facing each other in a "hollow square". It has a fairly unique sound and can be a lot of fun to sing. I should note that this tradition is inclusive to anyone who wants to participate, regardless of faith. Although the music has religious origins and lyrics, we would be singing it as a folk tradition, purely for the joy of it. I should also note that it would be a public event - musical background helps, but anyone is welcome!
